Visit Ann Arbor’s Breweries!

Ann Arbor has no shortage of breweries. What better way to go out with friends and avoid the cold than sipping some delicious craft beer in a cozy brewpub or taproom? And if you’re not a beer-lover – although you might be converted after tasting some of Ann Arbor’s top-notch craft beer – you can enjoy some scrumptious food at one of the brewpubs instead. Here are 4 of the best breweries in Ann Arbor worth checking out.

Edelbrau Brewing Company

Your first stop is Edelbrau Brewing Company. Most famous for their traditional English and German style beers, Edelbrau has a tasting room open off of Ellsworth Road in Ann Arbor. The modest taproom betrays the big reputation of Edelbrau’s Old World-inspired beers and brewing techniques.

Owner Teo Watson-Ahlbrandt studied classic brewing methods from Germany and England, intrigued by the German approach of maintaining beer’s purity. A crowd favorite, the Oat Malt Brown Ale, is fashioned after a 1850s recipe Watson-Ahlbrandt found from the UK. For an authentically sourced beer with a historical character, head to Edelbrau.

Arbor Brewing

Arbor Brewing has been creating sustainable craft beer since 1995. They have 3 Michigan locations, with a brewpub in Ann Arbor. They have their own beers on tap plus a full menu so you can grab dinner there as well.

Arbor Brewing was the first brewpub in Ann Arbor and they’ve been pushing the boundaries of craft beermaking with new styles for over 20 years. They’re especially proud of their sours, like the Barrel Aged Brune and the Biere Divette. The Ann Arbor brewpub’s casual ambiance is the perfect place to relax with friends while enjoying a tasty craft beer.

Grizzly Peak Brewing Co

Grizzly Peak Brewing Co is another Ann Arbor favorite with a full kitchen and bar. It’s at the heart of downtown Ann Arbor in a historic building, just blocks away from the University of Michigan campus. In addition to brewing their own beer, Grizzly Peak serves cuisine that strays from your typical bar food.

You can often find events happening here, too, like the upcoming Galentine’s Day Brunch on February 16. Grizzly Peak’s lively atmosphere makes it a must-visit among Ann Arbor breweries.

Pileated Brewing Company

Pileated is, like Edelbrau, a taproom rather than a full restaurant and bar. They’re just south of Lower Burns Park, on South Industrial Highway. From their LoLo IPA to their Stairwell Stout, Pileated tends to favor American-style beers with a twist.

If you can’t pick a favorite brewery don’t worry – you can visit them all! Make a day out of craft beer tasting by visiting 3-4 of them. But how to get around from brewery to brewery without persuading one of your friends to be the designated driver? Hire a limo or party bus with Rockstarz of course! We’ll make sure you get to where you’re going safely, so that you can relax and enjoy your craft beers.
